About The Farm

From a family that’s been farming for 8 generations, and producing from the family farm for 5 generations, Bigg Riggs Farm brings you home-grown abundance from Hampshire County, in the hills of West Virginia.

As for my family’s farm…it has been owned and operated for five generations. My great-grandfather planted the first trees in the 1930’s at this location, which proved to be an excellent choice due to its rocky soil and good drainage. In 1940, it was the first fruit stand opened on old US Route 50 between Romney, WV and Winchester, VA.

After many years of hard work and dedication my products and produce are sold in Northern Virginia at four farmers markets, select Whole Food Market locations, other locally owned businesses, Online and of course the West Virginia fruit stand where it all began.

Homegrown By Heroes (HBH) is the official farmer veteran branding program of America. The HBH logo serves to inform consumers that products donning the logo were produced by military veterans. The program is available to farmers, ranchers, fishermen, and value-added producers of all branches and eras of military service.

America’s soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines are having trouble finding work after they complete their service to our country. The farmers are getting older, and many can’t get enough workers to keep their farms going.

As a Marine, serving our country and now being able to serve local families as a farmer is an honor I take to heart.
